When Sri Khemraj Agarwalla opened Assam Hardware Stores in Jorhat in 1988, roofing in this part of the country meant one thing: something that could survive the monsoon. That hasn’t changed. What has changed is the material — from plain galvanised sheets to galvalume, colour-coated steel and stone-coated shingles that last decades instead of years.

We have moved with that change, and in many cases brought it to Upper Assam first. Today we are authorised dealers for Jindal India Ltd, Tata Durashine and Rhino, and we deal in every kind of roofing sheet a project might need — plain galvalume, colour coated, profiled, and stone-coated shingles.

Our customers are homeowners putting a roof over a first house, contractors closing a commercial shed before the rains, tea estates re-roofing worker housing, and over 300 dealer partners who resell our stock in their own towns. The scale differs. The requirement doesn’t: the right sheet, at the right gauge, delivered when it was promised.

Anyone can sell a sheet. An authorised dealer sells a sheet that comes with the manufacturer’s backing, the manufacturer’s specification, and a paper trail if something goes wrong. We hold authorised dealerships with four of the strongest names in Indian roofing.
